June 17, 2024Whether travelling often for business, school or fun, Annual Multi-trip Travel Insurance can make sure you’re covered.
When you travel often, purchasing travel insurance per trip can become a bit of an ordeal. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There is a great option that will ensure you have the coverage you need on every trip – for an entire year.
Multi-trip Annual Emergency Medical Insurance and Annual Multi-trip Cancellation and Interruption insurance will set you up for all your travel for an entire year. The key to purchasing these year-long types of coverage is knowing if you need one or both and the maximum number of days you’d be away from home for any trip within that year.
For example, someone who travels consistently for business might never be on a business trip longer than 5 days. And might be limited to 14 consecutive days for vacations. Many business travelers wouldn’t anticipate needing supplemental health coverage so they would focus on purchasing just the annual multi-trip cancellation and interruption insurance. And they would base the annual coverage at 14 days and be covered for both business and vacation travel.
A student going to school out of province on the other hand, would probably need both annual multi-trip medical and multi-trip cancellation and interruption. Depending on how often the student plans on coming home and how often the parents plan on going to visit, an annual friends and family multi-trip policy might be the way to go – at least for the multi-trip cancellation and interruption. And if summer travel is on the student’s agenda – you might want to set the longest trip length based on summer break (maximum 60 days).
Knowing you can travel where and when you need, and handle whatever delays, cancellations, sicknesses come your way for an entire year, is really invaluable. Especially given the uncertainty of airline schedules and the ever changing covid protocols. So, if you’re doing a lot of travel, make sure your insurance broker knows as much as possible about the types of trips you’ll be going on. This information will help them make the best recommendations for coverage.
